Neil and I visited the tower to figure out why the rf out was so low on UHF.
Using the toys we brought we found out that the patch cable from the rack to the cans was defective. We figure this cable has been problematic for decades based on the log book. Hence the reason we kept blowing up the UHF amp.
We replaced the cable with a temporary cable, but a new one needs to be delivered. Right after we did this we had a qso with a station way past Oshawa on the 401 and his first words were "What did you just do? I've never heard then repeater way out here. "
We then scanned all the cavities to the multicoupler and the insertion loss was less than 1db except for VHF rx and that was -3db.
